Eddie Jones pleased with England "rope-a-dope" win against Australia

Jones pleased with "rope-a-dope" triumph

England head coach Eddie Jones has suggested that his team had to adopt "rope-a-dope" tactics in order to secure a Test series win against Australia.

The tourists became the first English team to win a Test series Down Under, but only after making 216 tackles as they weathered wave after wave of attack from the Wallabies.

Speaking after the 23-7 victory in Melbourne, Jones also claimed that his team have already set their sights on a clean sweep against the 2015 World Cup finalists.

He told BBC Sport: "We had to play rope-a-dope. We have to be tactically flexible in Test rugby. That's why I'm so pleased.

"Other sides will have 60% possession and we have to be able to score points with that possession - then we'll be a really, really good team.

"If the All Blacks were in this situation now, what would they be thinking? They'd be thinking 3-0. If we want to be the best team in the world, we have to think 3-0."

The final match of the series takes place in Sydney next Saturday.
