Nick Abendanon replaces Mike Brown for England's tour of South Africa after the full-back sustains a broken thumb during Saturday's defeat in Durban.

England full-back Mike Brown has been forced to pull out of England's tour of South Africa following a thumb injury.

The 26-year-old broke his thumb during the side's 22-17 defeat to the Springboks in Durban on Saturday.

Bath's Nick Abendanon has now been called up to replace his Harlequins counterpart.

Coach Stuart Lancaster has revealed that Brown will be sidelined for up to eight weeks.

England next take on Southern Barbarians in Kimberley on Wednesday.
