British and Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton could reportedly sit out of his side's clash against the Barbarians this Saturday after missing training.

British and Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton could reportedly miss out on leading the team out against the Barbarians this weekend due to injury.

The 24-year-old Welshman was expected to don the armband for the start of the tour, which begins in Hong Kong on Saturday, but it has since emerged that the openside flanker could be out of the match.

It is understood that Warburton missed training today, prompting head coach Warren Gatland to consider not risking the player against the Barbarians, according to Sky Sports News.

Warburton is the Lions' youngest-ever captain.
