Carl Fearns to leave Bath for Lyon

Bath confirm that forward Carl Fearns is to join French club Lyon before the start of next season.

Bath have confirmed that forward Carl Fearns will join French club Lyon this summer.

The 26-year-old has made nearly 75 appearances for the Aviva Premiership runners-up since 2011.

Fearns started his career with Sale Sharks in 2008 before moving to Bath three years later.

"I've had a fantastic four years at Bath during what has been a great time for the club," the former England Under-20 international told Bath's official website.

"Whilst I'm sad to be leaving my teammates and coaches here, I'm really looking forward to moving with my family to France and continuing my rugby career in a different environment."

Fearns was fined by Bath in 2013 after footage emerged of him punching former teammate Gavin Henson in a city centre pub.
