Neal Hatley: 'Competition key to Bath victory'

Neal Hatley says that limited opportunities for young players in the Bath team was key to their win over Exeter Chiefs in the LV= Cup.

Forwards coach Neal Hatley believes that competition for places was key to helping Bath beat Exeter Chiefs in the LV= Cup on Sunday.

Having given a number of younger players a start for the match, Bath raced to a 37-15 win over the Devonian outfit thanks to tries from Matt Banahan, Matt Garvey, Martin Roberts and Charlie Beech, while George Ford and Tom Heathcote shared 17 points from the boot.

"I think we did look hungry," Hatley told reporters. "That's what competition for places does. That healthy competition means that every single opportunity, they're going to have to take with both hands."

The result means that Exeter are still without a win against Bath since returning to the Aviva Premiership in 2010.
