Australia captain Stephen Moore "thrilled" by semi-final berth

Moore "thrilled" by Australia win

Australia captain Stephen Moore has paid tribute to Scotland's performance during the Rugby World Cup quarter-final between the two sides at Twickenham this afternoon.

The Wallabies went into the match as heavy favourites to progress to the last four, but Scotland pushed them all the way until a Bernard Foley penalty in the 80th minute handed them a thrilling 35-34 victory.

Moore, who won his 100th international cap in the match, declared himself "thrilled" to have emerged victorious, but was quick to refocus on their semi-final against Argentina next weekend.

"I'm thrilled that we won the game. It's given us the opportunity to play in the semi-finals," the hooker told Sports Mole.

"I thought Scotland played really well, they really threw everything at us. I thought their attack was really good, their carries were very strong and they got some real momentum. It was a really tough Test match that went down to the wire. That's what happens in quarter-finals.

"They played out of their skins. We've got some work to do during the week, and we'll knuckle down tomorrow and get stuck into that because we know Argentina are going to be very tough."

Australia have made it through to their sixth semi-final in eight tournaments alongside fellow Southern Hemisphere sides Argentina, South Africa and New Zealand.
