Widnes Vikings agree a dual-registration partnership with Workington Town, allowing the Super League club's players to represent the Championship 1 outfit.

Widnes Vikings have agreed a dual-registration partnership with Championship 1 outfit Workington Town.

The deal allows up to five Widnes players to play for Workington, however Gareth Hock and overseas players with visas will not be appearing for the Cumbrian side.

Vikings head coach Denis Betts believes that both parties will benefit from the link-up.

"Having spoken to our players, playing for Workington is seen as a big step back into the Widnes first team," said Betts. "They believe that this is something they will want and need. It will put both clubs in a far healthier position."

Widnes finished in last place at the end of Super League XVI last year.
