Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have sacked winger Greg Johnson after he was sentenced to two years in prison earlier today.
The 21-year-old has been jailed for wounding and sexually assaulting a woman in a Huddersfield bar in February.
Johnson, who had pleaded guilty to the charges at an earlier hearing, has also been ordered to join the sex offenders' register for seven years.
"Johnson, who joined the club in April until the end of the 2011 season, has been immediately dismissed by the club following being found guilty of the incident which took place in February 2011, before he joined the Wildcats," read a statement on the club's official website.
"No further comment will be made regarding this matter."
Johnson has previously played for Huddersfield Giants.
