Shaun Wane is expected to be named the new coach of Wigan Warriors following the departure of Michael Maguire.

Super League side Wigan Warriors will confirm the appointment of Shaun Wane as their new coach on Tuesday, according to BBC Sport.

The former second-row became assistant coach with the Warriors in 2009, working under Michael Maguire.

However, Maguire has now returned to his native Australia to manage South Sydney Rabbitohs, leaving the coach's position at the DW Stadium vacant.

Wane previously took charge of the Warriors last year when Maguire was absent on compassionate leave.

The former Great Britain international played for Wigan between 1981 and 1990.
