Shaun McRae draws up shortlist of candidates for Hull job

Hull boss announcement in “couple of weeks”

New Hull director of rugby Shaun McRae has revealed that he hopes to announce a new manager in the next "couple of weeks".

The 51-year-old has drawn up a three-man shortlist to replace Richard Agar after the club confirmed his departure yesterday.

Peter Gentle, who is the assistant to the Australian national team and Wests Tigers, is currently being touted as the favourite to succeed Agar.

However, McRae will not be drawn on any rumours.

"Peter is linked with every job," Sky Sports News quotes McRae as saying. "It's fair to say there are three very strong candidates.

"It's unfair to speculate but we would like to appoint sooner rather than later. I would hope it will be within a couple of weeks."

Meanwhile, former Black and Whites boss Agar has been tipped to become Wakefield’s new coach.
