David Cookson fails drugs test

Oldham Rugby League player David Cookson is banned for six months for failing a drugs test.

Oldham Rugby League player David Cookson has been banned for six months after he failed a drugs test.

Cookson has been found guilty of breaching the RFL's anti-doping regulations after providing a sample that contained Methylhexaneamine.

The six-month suspension has been backdated to August 31 so Cookson will be available for selection when his ban finishes on February 28.

The banned substance that was found was part of a supplement taken with an energy drink but it has been deemed that Cookson did not attempt to enhance his performance.
