Referee Thierry Alibert given one-match suspension

Super League referee Thierry Alibert is handed a one-match suspension after allowing a try to be scored in the seventh tackle for the second time in a month.

Super League referee Thierry Alibert has been served a one-match suspension for allowing two tries to be scored on the seventh tackle in a month.

The 41-year-old Frenchman has been handed the ban following the official's latest decision during London Broncos' 36-18 defeat to the Catalans Dragons last week.

Broncos coach Rob Powell was particularly critical of Alibert following the match. The 31-year-old said: "The second try of the second half was on the seventh tackle.

"It's the same referee that had one against Wakefield for Warrington two weeks ago that cost the game.

"We shouldn't concede 22 points and we shouldn't concede four tries in 12 minutes but it doesn't help when the bare standard minimum of the game is not officiated."

The decision comes following a weekend of officiating blunders during the football calendar, which resulted in linesman Dave Bryan being dropped after allowing two offside Chelsea goals against Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
