Hull Kingston Rovers come back from three tries down against Leigh Centurions

Hull Kingston Rovers defeat Leigh Centurions 32-26 in the Super 8s Qualifying competition.

Hull Kingston Rovers came back from three tries down to defeat Leigh Centurions 32-26 in the rugby league Super 8s Qualifiers competition this afternoon.

Centurions started strongest with some big carries but when they were just inches away from the try line, Hull turned the ball over and Dane Chisholm ran the length of the pitch for a try.

Josh Mantellato kicked the conversion before Leigh hit back through Ryan Brierley after he collected an offload from the hard-carrying Gareth Hock. Martyn Ridyard added the extra two points.

Brierley was instrumental in Leigh's second, breaking the defence at the halfway line before chipping ahead for Greg McNally to collect and score. Ridyard kicked the conversion before doing the same again after Andrew Dixon crashed over just two minutes later for his side's third.

Tom Armstrong got Leigh's fourth just before half time, with Ridyard once again adding the conversion.

Kieran Dixon and Hull hit back in the second half when the fullback raced down the wing to score. Mantellato added the conversion before Ridyard increased his side's lead with a penalty kick.

Hull scored again after Mantellato saw some space in Leigh's defence and broke through. The winger converted his own try before Tony Puletua barged over from two yards out, but Mantellato missed the conversion and the opportunity to level the scores.

It made no difference though after Shaun Lunt crashed over to give Hull the lead, with Mantellato this time kicking the conversion, before Ben Cockayne raced away to score and put the game beyond doubt.
