Steve McNamara "in no rush" over new England deal

Steve McNamara claims that he is not in any rush to resolve his future as England head coach.

England head coach Steve McNamara has insisted that he is not rushing any talks over his future in the job.

The ex-Bradford Bulls kicker saw the Lions seal a 2-1 series victory over New Zealand, after winning the final Test against the Kiwis at Wigan's DW Stadium.

However, McNamara has suggested that his international future will be dealt with in good time.

"It's the same as before. We'd always get the tournaments out of the way, sit down and assess it and I'll now speak to the relevant people involved." McNamara is quoted by Total Rugby League as saying.

"It's a huge honour to represent your country and we all feel strongly about it – players, coaches and backroom staff. It is the finest thing that you can possibly do, but these issues are something I'll deal with post-tournament. These things aren't simple, and I'm in no rush."

Former Great Britain legend Garry Schofield has recently called for McNamara to be replaced as head coach of the national side.
