Bradford Bulls chairman Peter Hood has delivered a damning assessment of the current financial state of the Super League.

The cash-strapped West Yorkshire side, who could be on the brink of extinction, produced a rousing display to beat local rivals Leeds Rhinos 12-4 in front of 20,821 supporters on Good Friday.

In the match programme, Hood, who revealed that the annual average losses of Super League clubs rose from £50,000 to £500,000 between 2004-2010, wrote: "Losses on this scale are being racked up year upon year and it is clubs' wealthy owners who are footing the bill.

"Unless something changes, it won't be long before at least one Super League club is technically insolvent for more than £10m."

The Bulls are believed to have received around £400,000 in pledges before yesterday's 5pm deadline.
