Australia thrash Fiji to reach final

Australia have thrashed Fiji 64-0 in their Rugby League World Cup semi-final to set up a meeting with New Zealand in the final.

Fiji defended hard in the opening minutes of the match as they looked to halt an early Australian charge, but Johnathan Thurston added the first try of the game after eight minutes.

Jarryd Hayne added a brace as the Aussies added five more tries before half time, giving themselves a commanding 34-0 lead.

Hayne completed his hat-trick with 10 minutes to go and Darius Boyd added his second after the break, while the Fijians failed to threaten in the second half.

Thurston put in an impressive kicking performance, converting 10 of his side's 11 tries.

The final takes place at Old Trafford next Saturday.
