Pendleton finishes 13th at Beverley

Former Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton finished 13th in her second ever race as an amateur jockey at Beverley on Tuesday.

At the start of the month, the 34-year-old finished second on her competitive debut at Ripon.

However, the two-time Olympic cycling champion was unable to build on it this week as she finished three places from the back aboard Royal Etiquette.

"I made a bit of a Royal Etiquette sandwich coming into the last three furlongs, but that's racing," BBC Sport quotes Pendleton as saying.

The former cyclist is working towards a place in the Foxhunter Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
