Great Heavens wins Irish Oaks

Great Heavens won the Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh this afternoon.

It appeared that the full sister to Nathaniel had too much to do in the closing stages as she became boxed in.

However, ridden by jockey William Buick, she was taken to the centre of the track and proceeded to pass all of her rivals on her way to crossing the line in first spot.

Shirocco Star finished second on the testing ground, while 9/4 shot Princess Highway rounded off the top three.
