Tony McCoy: 'Clinching 4,000th winner is amazing'

Tony McCoy says that it is "amazing" to have reached his 4,000th career winner at Towcester this afternoon.

Irish jockey Tony McCoy has expressed his delight at riding his 4,000th career winner at Towcester this afternoon.

The 39-year-old reached the milestone in the 3.10 Weatherbys Novices' Hurdle on board Mountain Tunes, who is owned by McCoy's boss JP McManus.

"It's amazing, it couldn't have worked out any better," McCoy told Sky Sports News. "It was always going to be hopefully happen in JP's colours. The racing people are fantastic."

McCoy recorded his first win in 1992 at the age of 17.
