Jason Maguire making progress after being brought out of coma

Maguire making progress in hospital

Jason Maguire has been brought out of an induced coma after suffering a number of injuries in a heavy fall at Stratford on Monday.

The Grand National winner was forced to have part of his liver removed due to the accident, in which he also fractured his sternum.

Maguire is now making good progress in University Hospital Coventry, according to the wife of his agent Chris Broad.

"Jason has been brought round out of his induced coma throughout the day. I think he's very aware of who's around him - his wife, as well as Chris and he's had a few other very close friends in to see him today," Jane Broad revealed to journalists.

"At the moment, fingers crossed, it's going in the right direction."

Maguire has been forced to miss the Cheltenham Festival, which got underway on Tuesday.
