Jockey Henry Brooke out of induced coma

Jockey Henry Brooke has been brought out of an induced coma following his fall on Saturday.

The 25-year-old was riding Old Storm in a novices' handicap chase at Hexham racecourse when his mount fell and he was kicked by another horse.

Brooke suffered a broken collarbone and suspected collapsed lung, but he has now regained consciousness in hospital.

"He's had a much more comfortable day and has regained consciousness which is fantastic news. The doctors are pleased with his progress," read a statement from the Injured Jockeys' Fund.

Racing was delayed for almost two hours on Saturday as Brooke received treatment from medical staff.
