Burton Port suffers fatal injury

Eleven-year-old Burton Port suffered a fatal injury at Doncaster this afternoon.

The seven-time grade two winner, who had champion jockey Tony McCoy onboard, fell awkwardly during the 3.25pm Veterans' Chase.

Upon the conclusion of the race, which was won by Aachen, it was confirmed that Burton Port had suffered a serious injury and as a result had been put down.

The Jonjo O'Neill-trained bay gelding had been entered into this year's Grand National at Aintree.
