Big Buck's breaks jump record

Ruby Walsh has guided Big Buck's to a 17th straight victory over hurdles in the first race of the Aintree festival.

Big Buck's has made history by winning the Liverpool Hurdle at Aintree to record a 17th consecutive triumph in jump races.

Champion jockey Ruby Walsh eased the nine-year-old to victory by nine lengths in the first race of the festival, ahead of the chasing Crack Away Jack and Across The Bay.

After biding his time, Walsh guided the 2/9 favourite into the lead three fences from the finish after Robert Thornton had been unseated aboard Smad Place.

It takes the Paul Nicholls-trained gelding's total to four victories in the Grade One race at Aintree and breaks Sir Ken's previous record of 16 straight wins over hurdles.
