Noble Yeats outlasts Any Second Now to win Grand National

Noble Yeats has won the 2022 Grand National, the 50-1 shot getting the better of favourite Any Second Now at Aintree.

In prevailing in Saturday's showpiece on Merseyside, Noble Yeats becomes the first seven-year-old to win the race since 1940.

Jockey Sam Waley-Cohen, an amateur jockey who is a dental practitioner, was on board in what was his final-ever race in the sport, bringing home the win for father and owner Robert Waley-Cohen.

Going over the last fence, Noble Yeats looked like being second best to 15-2 favourite Any Second Now, but it was the outsider who stormed home for victory.

Delta Work, who beat two-time Grand National winner Tiger Roll at Cheltenham last month, was third, finishing ahead of 33-1 shot Santini.
