Corach Rambler wins the 2023 Grand National at Aintree after the race was initially delayed by animal welfare protesters.

Corach Rambler has produced a strong finish to win the 2023 Grand National at Aintree.

The race was initially delayed by animal welfare protesters with numerous people being arrested for attempting to get onto the course and its surroundings.

Once the showpiece event of the British calendar got underway, it was a chaotic affair with several loose horses staying present at the front.

However, Corach Rambler, ridden by Derek Fox, defied the activity around them to surge clear down the stretch, taking advantage of Mister Coffey fading after maintaining a lead for much of the second half of the race.

French horse Vanillier was closing on Corach Rambler down the stretch, but it was to no avail as the Lucinda Russell-trained horse won by a couple of lengths.

Speaking to ITV Sport, Fox said: "He is just a phenomenal horse. I can't believe it.

"He normally gets his head up a wee bit but today he travelled everywhere. He is the cleverest horse. He is so intelligent."

Gaillard Du Mesnil and Noble Yeats - both 10/1 shots - came home in third and fourth respectively, with The Big Dog holding on for fifth position.
