The Cheltenham Festival has long been considered one of the greatest horse racing events in the UK and it attracts a huge audience from around the world each year. These are 10 of the best and most memorable winners of the festival over the course of its history. When it's Cheltenham, people feel as if they have a bigger chance of winning because it is such a huge occasion.

Golden Miller
In 1934, Golden Miller set a record that's yet to be beaten – he won the national hunt racing's greatest prize five times. The 1935 victory was a thrilling race but it was this year that the horse also won the Grand National, making it a noteworthy year in the horse's career.

Dawn Run
Dawn Run was trained by Paddy Mullins and was little more than a novice when he became the only horse to win the Champion Hurdle and the Gold Cup in 1986. The horse won over Wayward Lad and Forgive 'n' Forget to claim this victory.

Desert Orchard
In 1989, Desert Orchard, fondly known as Dessie, was one of the most popular national chase horses in the history of horse racing and had so much success at Kempton in the King George VI Chase and as a former 2m chase winner. The horse won in terrible conditions to claim the title.

Norton's Coin
Norton's Coin created the biggest upset in the history of the Cheltenham Festival in 1990 when he came out on top with odds of 100/1. Dairy farmer Sirrell Griffiths may not have been thinking about his nine-year-old horse on the morning of the race but all thoughts were on Norton's Coin when Graham McCourt beat Toby Tobias by under a length.

Istabraq
Prior to the 2000 Champion Hurdle, just four horses had won the premier hurdle contest three times at Cheltenham but Aidan O'Brien's runner added his name to the books when he made his third win in the 2m contest.

Master Oats
Norman Williamson guided Master Oats to a 15-length victory in 1995 in testing conditions, despite several blunders during the course of the race. He also won the Champion Hurdle with Alderbrook.

Best Mate
Best Mate made it through the strongest of challenges from Harbour Pilot and Sir Rembrandt in 2004 to become a third-time winner to the delight of audiences, trainer Henrietta Knight and owner Jim Lewis.

Big Bucks
Big Bucks is often considered to be one of the greatest staying hurdlers of all time and in 2012 - this was proven when he won his fourth straight World Hurdle at the festival, a feat which had never been achieved before.

The Fellow
The Fellow, who was trained by Francois Doumen, had been beaten to the title twice before by a short head, but in 1994 he was finally the first across the line to a roaring crowd.

Arkle
Arkle was ridden by Pat Taaffe and lost to rival Mill House at the Hennessey Gold Cup, but they won their Cheltenham renewal by five lengths in 1966, earning them a place in racing history.
