Vautour storms to win JLT Novices Chase

Vautour produces the run of the Cheltenham Festival so far to ease to victory in the JLT Novices Chase.

Vautour has produced a majestic performance to win the JLT Novices Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

The 6/4 favourite, ridden by jockey Ruby Walsh, made virtually all of the running alongside Irish Saint before his rival made a mistake in the closing stages.

That gave the horse, trained by Willie Mullins, the chance to stride clear of the chasing pack and he cantered to victory by 15 lengths to win Thursday's opening race.

Apache Stronghold came home in second position after edging out Valseur Lido in a photo finish, while Irish Saint came home in fourth place.
