Nicky Henderson becomes most successful Cheltenham trainer

Nicky Henderson has become the most successful trainer at the Cheltenham Festival after Simonsig won the Neptune Novice Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival this afternoon.

The six-year-old was level with Cotton Mill heading into the second from last fence.

However, while be ridden by jockey J P Ferguson, Cotton Mill refused the jump, leaving Simonsig clear to cross the final jump and the finish line unopposed.

Felix Yonger, who was a 16-1 shot, came second, while Monksland finished third.

Simonsig's win has taken Henderson's total of victories at the Festival to 41.
