Alfie Sherrin won the third race of the Cheltenham Festival in the JLT Speciality Handicap Chase this afternoon.
It looked as though Fruity O'Rooney, ridden by Jamie Moore, was going to claim the win when he jumped the final fence in first place.
However, nine-year-old Alfie Sherrin produced a late surge under Richie McLernon to edge out the challenge from Fruity O'Rooney, who kicked hard again in the final stages.
Jason Maguire, who won the first race of the day on-board Cinders and Ashes, came third with Our Mick.
For winning jockey McLernon, the victory was his first at Cheltenham in 42 attempts.
