Walsh to undergo surgery on broken arm

Jockey Ruby Walsh has been taken to Gloucester Hospital after he fell during the first race of day four at the Cheltenham Festival.

The rider will be out of this afternoon's Gold Cup after he fell after the second hurdle on Abbyssial in the JCB Triumph Hurdle.

According the Western Daily Press, a racing spokesperson said: "He has a compound fracture of his right humerus. He has been taken to Gloucester for surgery."

Walsh brought down stablemate Adriana Des Mottes in the process.
