Cheltenham day two roundup: Sire De Grugy triumphant in Queen Mother Champion Chase

Cheltenham roundup: Sire De Grugy triumphant

Jamie Moore won his first Cheltenham Festival race by guiding Sire De Grugy to victory in the day two feature Queen Mother Champion Chase.

The 11/4 favourite spent most of the race in the midfield before streaking clear round the final bend, going on to win by a healthy margin from Somerby (14/1) and Module (20/1).

Day two started off as day one did, as Ruby Walsh and Willie Mullens combined to win the opening Neptune Novices' Hurdle on well-backed Faugheen (6/4 favourite).

The RSA chase was won by O'faolains Boy (12/1), who, under Barry Geraghty, just squeezed out 13/2 joint-favourite Smad Place.

Next was the Coral Cup, which was won by Whisper (14/1) under Nico De Boinville. Tony McCoy's mount Get Me Out Of Here (14/1) was second for the fourth time at Cheltenham after getting beat by the tiniest of margins.

Sire De Grugy then delighted punters in the Champion Chase before Balthazar King (4/1) won the Cross Country chase for a second time.

Day two was rounded off by victories for Hawk High (33/1) and Silver Concorde (16/1) in the Juvenile Handicap Chase and Champion Bumper respectively.
