Shakira to perform at World Cup closing ceremony

Shakira will take to the stage at the World Cup closing ceremony before the final on July 13 to perform her song for the global tournament.

The Colombian popstar, who is the girlfriend of Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Pique, will perform 'La La La (Brazil 2014)' alongside Brazilian singer and percussionist Carlinhos Brown.

"I have an intricate relationship with football for obvious reasons, and I truly understand what the World Cup means to so many people, myself included," said Shakira.

Shakira's performance will mark her third consecutive appearance at a World Cup, while Wyclef Jean, Brazilian singer Alexandre Pires and guitarist Carlos Santana will perform the official tournament anthem 'Dar Um Jeito'.

One of Rio de Janeiro's schools will also feature in the closing ceremony by performing a samba routine.
