Wolverhampton Wanderers fans to wear Jorge Mendes masks at Aston Villa

Hundreds of Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters will don Jorge Mendes masks at Aston Villa this weekend in support of the club's affiliation with the agent.

Several of Wolves' Championship rivals - including Villa - have hit out at the Midlands outfit's relationship with the influential businessman, but a group of their fans are planning to wear cardboard cutouts of his face at Villa Park in an act of defiance against their critics.

Season ticket holder Jon Hague is the group's ringleader, having printed off 300 Mendes masks for the occasion.

"Like everyone I'm a little bit sick of the digging and the gripes," he told the Express & Star.

"We're trying to stick up for the bad press we're getting and take the mickey out of the clubs like Leeds, Derby and Villa and take a few hundred masks.

"We've printed off 300 and within a couple of hours of putting it on Twitter it's gone viral amongst Wolves fans, I've had 30 or 40 saying they're printing off their own."

Wolves head into the match against Villa top of the Championship, 10 points ahead of their third-placed opponents.
