Empty seats at Wimbledon spark fury among fans trying to get tickets at SW19.

Tennis fans were reportedly left fuming when it emerged that a large number of seats were left empty during yesterday's play at Wimbledon.

A noticeable number of sections within Centre Court were left empty during Serena Williams's and David Ferrer's matches, while Heather Watson's defeat on Court Two appeared to be half full.

Plenty of fans took to social networking websites to complain about the empty seats, with former England footballer Gary Lineker writing on Twitter: "Lot of empty seats on centre court. Corporate lethargy, no doubt. What a waste of tickets so many would give their right arm for #wimbledon."

According to the Daily Mail, the All England Club have denied that the seats were for businesses, but that the spectators had left to get food at the time.
