Morrison remanded on assault charge

Ravel Morrison has been remanded in custody until next Thursday after appearing in court charged with assaulting two women.

The West Ham United midfielder was arrested following accusations that he slapped and punched his ex-girlfriend and her mother.

The 21-year-old was refused bail after appearing before Manchester Magistrates' Court, and remanded until August 7, when he will appear before court via a video-link from prison.

Morrison was arrested on Wednesday, while the alleged assault took place in the early hours of Sunday morning.
