West Ham's Andy Carroll questioned by police after alleged assault

Carroll quizzed by police

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll has been interviewed by police after he was alleged to have assaulted a photographer.

The 23-year-old, who is on loan at Upton Park for the season from Liverpool, was taken in by authorities in Ireland during a Christmas party with his teammates in Dublin following their 3-1 victory over Chelsea at the weekend.

It is understood that no arrests were made and other Hammers players were spoken to after a press photographer accused the former Newcastle United frontman of assaulting him on Grafton Street.

Carroll is currently recovering from a knee injury, which has put him out of action for two months.
