Andy Carroll, Sam Allardyce scammed for £11,000

Sam Allardyce and Andy Carroll are among West Ham United employees to be duped out of thousands in a scam at the club's training ground.

West Ham United pair Andy Carroll and Sam Allardyce have reportedly fallen victim to a £30,000 scam.

The duo are reported to have paid £11,000 apiece for cut-price Fortnum & Mason hampers and Harrods champagne, but never received the items in question.

Striker Carroll and manager Allardyce are just two Hammers employees to be duped by the deal, with the alleged conman scamming his way to £30,000 in total, according to The Sun.

The report goes on to claim that the fraudster in question also targeted Norwich City, where he conned players out of £5,000.

A source told the newspaper: "He was offering top quality champagnes and hampers from Harrods and Fortnum & Mason at ridiculously cheap prices.

"The conman told them he had some good contacts in these firms and assured them it was all legal and above board. They were told stuff would be delivered in a short while."

An investigation has since been launched after Metropolitan Police were informed of the incidents.
