Moore vows to support Thompson

Tranmere Rovers manager Ronnie Moore has vowed to help midfielder Joe Thompson through his cancer battle.

The League One club announced that the 24-year-old has contracted nodular sclerosing Hodgkin's disease and will shortly begin a six-month bout of chemotherapy treatment.

"Joe is a fantastic young man and he will be missed around Prenton Park while he has treatment," Moore told the club's official website.

"He has the full support of all the coaching staff and his team mates and we will do everything we can to help him make a full recovery."

Thompson started six league games for Tranmere this season.
