Ranger found not guilty of rape

Swindon Town striker Nile Ranger has been found not guilty of rape following a trial at Newcastle Crown Court.

The 22-year-old was alleged to have attacked a woman in a Newcastle hotel room in January 2013.

Ranger had denied the charge, insisting that he had engaged in consensual sex with the woman.

The forward joined Swindon in August 2013 following a four-year spell with Newcastle.
