Sunderland striker Steven Fletcher has been issued a six-month ban from driving and a £1,700 fine after being caught speeding.

The 25-year-old was seen on camera driving a Range Rover at 77mph in a 50mph zone in Curdworth, Warwickshire.

Fletcher, who moved to the Black Cats from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer, changed his plea to guilty after failing to appear at court last month.

Meanwhile, the prolific forward, who has netted five goals in four appearances for Sunderland so far, has been recalled to the Scotland national team for their 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Wales and Belgium this month.
