Eric Dier: 'Tottenham Hotspur players addicted to Mate tea'

Eric Dier admits that some of his Tottenham teammates will be packing 'Mate' tea to the World Cup in Russia next week.

Eric Dier has revealed that the Tottenham Hotspur players will be bringing a special form of tea to Russia for the World Cup.

England will be taking Spurs teammates Dier, Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier for their Group G fixtures against Tunisia, Panama and Belgium later this month.

A caffeine-rich drink called 'Mate' will also be boarding the plane to Russia, as Dier admits that several of his club teammates are addicted to the beverage.

"At Tottenham, quite a lot of us have started drinking this thing called Mate. I am a bit addicted to it!

"At Tottenham, we have a lot of Argentinians at the club, so I started drinking it with them.

"And now we are trying to pretend to be South Americans! I haven't introduced it to the boys here at England but me and Danny Rose have a quiet one in our room sometimes."

England will play their first group-stage fixture against Tunisia on Monday evening.
