Police investigate Aaron Lennon nightclub assault claims

Police are investigating claims that Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon assaulted a woman in a Manchester nightclub.

The 28-year-old has been interviewed by Greater Manchester Police in relation to an incident that took place at the start of the month.

Lennon, who is currently on loan at Everton, is understood to have voluntarily attended a police station two weeks ago.

"On Wednesday April 8, 2015, police were called following reports an 18-year-old woman had been assaulted at Suede night club, Longworth Street, Manchester city centre on Sunday 5 April 2015," a police spokesman told Sky Sports News.

"A man has been interviewed under caution. No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing."

Lennon is in Everton's squad for this afternoon's Premier League encounter with Manchester United at Goodison Park.
