Adebayor released from hospital

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Emmanuel Adebayor has been released from hospital after contracting a mild case of malaria.

The Togolese forward was taken ill at the weekend and will miss the Premier League outfit's pre-season tour of North America.

Spurs have since provided an update on Adebayor's health, stating on their official website: "We are pleased to report that Emmanuel Adebayor has been released from hospital after being admitted on Saturday suffering from a mild bout of malaria.

"The striker will now rest for a minimum of seven days before making a return to training and will continue to be assessed."

Tottenham will play friendlies against the Seattle Sounders, Toronto FC and Chicago Fire during their tour this month.
