Spurs fan 'stabbed in Rome'

A Tottenham Hotspur fan is believed to be seriously injured in hospital after getting stabbed during a brawl in Rome.

A travelling support of Tottenham fans have been arriving in Italy ahead of their team's Europa League clash against Lazio this evening.

It is understood that one of the club's supporters has sustained damage to an artery after he was stabbed in a bar, while nine other Spurs fans have also been injured, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

It is believed that five people, who are thought to be Lazio fans, have been arrested following the brawl, according to the BBC.

Meanwhile, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has highlighted the importance of defeating Lazio tonight in order to progress through the competition.
