Jessica Ennis-Hill wants name removed from stand if Ched Evans re-signs

Jessica Ennis-Hill issues a warning to Sheffield United that if they offer convicted rapist Ched Evans a contract, she wants her name removing from one of the stands.

Sheffield United fan Jessica Ennis-Hill has warned the club that she will want her name removing from the stand at Bramall Lane if convicted rapist Ched Evans is offered a contract.

Evans is currently training with the Blades after serving half of his five-year sentence after being found guilty of raping a 19-year-old woman in Wales.

"I believe being a role model to young people is a huge honour and those in positions of influence in communities should respect the role they play in young people's lives and set a good example," Ennis-Hill said in a statement.

"If Evans was to be re-signed by the club it would completely contradict these beliefs."

One of the stands at Bramall Lane was renamed after the heptathlete following her success at the London Olympics in 2012.
