La Liga clubs negotiating new TV rights deal

La Liga is in talks to agree a single TV rights deal involving all clubs in the Spanish top flight.

The clubs in La Liga have opened talks over a new TV rights deal which will see the money split more evenly.

Currently, each club negotiates their own contract, with Barcelona and Real Madrid each receiving around £120m per year, while champions Atletico Madrid earn less than half that figure.

According to The Times, the Spanish league is set to follow the Premier League format where rights are sold to broadcasters as a package, and all clubs receive a share of the revenue.

It is hoped that the new deal will be in place for the start of the 2016-17 season.
