Real Madrid star Gareth Bale: 'I need to try harder to learn Spanish'

Gareth Bale reveals that he needs to "try a bit harder" to learn Spanish after spending more than a year at Real Madrid.

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has admitted that he is still struggling to master the Spanish language.

The Wales international moved to the Bernabeu from Tottenham Hotspur last summer for a world-record fee of around £85m.

Despite living in Spain, Bale has revealed that the majority of his coaches and teammates speak English, which is making it difficult for him to grasp a different language.

"I probably need to try a bit harder," Bale told the Daily Mail. "But it's tough because everyone speaks English at the club - the manager, Paul Clement the assistant, the doctors and physios, and a lot of the players, but I am still trying."

In his first season at Madrid, Bale won the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
