David Beckham sparks increase in flights to Paris

Beckham arrival ups Paris flights
David Beckham sparks an increase in flights to Paris following his move to Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain.

New Paris Saint-Germain signing David Beckham is the reason behind an increase of airline bookings to the French capital.

The 37-year-old, who signed a five-month contract with the Ligue 1 outfit on deadline day last month, is expected to make his debut for the club this Sunday.

Online travel retailer Lastminute.com have recorded a 34% increase in flight bookings to Paris as well as a 23% uplift of hotel bookings near the club this month.

"David Beckham certainly strikes a chord in the hearts of the British public as fans snap up last minute flights to catch a glimpse of Goldenballs and his fancy footwork," Breaking Travel News quotes Lastminute.com UK and Ireland managing director Mark Maddock as saying.

"To help customers, we've got some top Golden Boules getaways to ensure fans don't miss a moment of the man in action."

Meanwhile, Beckham will be in attendance at tonight's Champions League tie against Valencia as a spectator.
