Tiote appears in court for 'false identity'

Newcastle United midfielder Cheik Tiote has appeared in court over multiple charges including fraud by false representation.

The 27-year-old appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court today where the case was sent to Crown Court.

The midfielder has also been accused of making a false claim to obtain insurance in September 2011, as well as driving a Chevrolet without a licence in February this year.

Tiote, who has recently claimed that he wants to stay with the Magpies, has also been charged with holding a false ID document used to provide information about himself.

The midfielder is on unconditional bail.
