Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley and PCP Capital Partners' Amanda Staveley reportedly reach an impasse over the takeover of the Magpies.

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley and PCP Capital Partners' Amanda Staveley have reportedly reached an impasse over the value of the Magpies.

Earlier this year, Ashley put the North-East outfit up for sale and Staveley has regularly been seen at St James' Park during ongoing negotiations.

However, according to The Sun, the two parties are currently at least £50m apart in offers that they are prepared to accept and make respectively.

Ashley has allegedly stated that he will not sell Newcastle for less than £300m, while Staveley is said to be against bidding more than £250m.

The report also suggests that Staveley has concerns over the long-term future of manager Rafael Benitez, who she wants to remain at the club.

Newcastle currently sit in 15th place in the Premier League standings, just one point above the relegation zone.
